About

Fiction Fiber is a one-person indie yarn company run by me, Catie. Here are a few things about me, the yarn, and the colorways I dye. If you enjoy reading this, you can follow me on instagram @fictionfiber or hear all about my wip and fiber-related adventures in my big newsletter.

MEET THE DYER

Bio

Catie is a dyer, knitter, crocheter, and writer. Her pattern Redware was published in Pom Pom Quarterly, while her Sleuth Beret pattern has inspired many knitters to become girl detectives. She is the author of a sci-fi literary zine, ‘Fanny Gets a Boyfriend; or Does She?’ and an aspiring novelist.

THE COLORWAYS

Big juicy colors

In my dyeing, I always try to create colorways that are richly hued, and rich with possibility. When you cast your eyes upon these fibers, I hope new project ideas will spill out all over. I hope my colors will inspire titillating color choices, unusual pairings, and curiously unique palettes during your upcoming adventures with fiber. Most of all, I hope your eyes sting from forgetting to blink when you’re staring at them for too long.

THE COLLECTIONS

Too many rainbows

My Colorway Collections are a means of expressing ideas I have about color pairings and palettes. They present my viewpoint and share combinations I hope others will be inspired to adopt and make their own. Past collections have focused heavily on familiar and nostalgic hues such as primaries, with combinations designed to refresh our viewpoint of them.

IMPACT

100% Organic, Non-superwash

All of my yarns are non-superwash. While it takes care to avoid felting  untreated yarns in the dyeing process, I’ve developed a technique that works for me, and I intend to keep my yarn products non-superwash until the end of time.

THE FICTION ASPECT

About my fiction

My semi-quarterly fiction zine follows an extraterrestrial yarn dyer who has officially selected an Earth boy that she wants to make out with. If you’re unfamiliar with zines, a zine is a self-published booklet of art or writing. Click below to read more about my literary zine, Fanny Gets A Boyfriend; Or Does She?

FICTION NEWSLETTER

Get a cute little email newspaper covering all my crafty updates

My bi-weekly email is more like a cute little newspaper with different columns on crafty topics, mostly concerning my WIPS. It’s also how I let you know about shop updates, and subscribers get to shop 24 hours before the general public.

Mission

As an indie yarn dyer, my mission is to bring deeply involving colorway collections that inspire fiber crafters as much as the stories they consume! I hope that each new colorway collection makes you want to get weird with your craft.
