Once I knit Sleuth Beret, I began to notice a definite increase in appreciative nods from strangers. I added a wool trench coat and a sour expression, and suddenly, in my mind, people definitely now see me as a hard-boiled, crime-solving machine regardless of how many balls of yarn I am currently carrying in my purse.
This is a pattern for an advanced beginner or moderately skilled knitter simply because it does involved stranded colorwork. If you’re new to colorwork but not new to knitting, I think this pattern is fantastic for learning colorwork because the stitch repeat and color changes are ridiculously memorable and easy.
The counting is very simple and the color changes make your work easy to read. It’s a short-term project that will take about a week of consistent, low-impact work. And the result is that you can literally now go out and solve mysteries, so that’s a plus.
