THE DESIGN

ABOUT

The Maya Sweater

A loungeworthy outerwear piece for fall, DEGEN’s Maya Sweater has one main color and one accent color. The accent color appears at the crochet picot trim along the large collar. I loved designing a palette with this sweater in mind. As a two-color sweater, it meant looking for unique and exciting ways to pair colors, while also looking for cohesion in the overall palette.

THE COLLECTION

ABOUT

The primary challenge for me in designing this palette was DEGEN’s request for darker hues, having been a sucker for brights for all of my dyeing days past. It was also very interesting to work on bouclĂ©, which was the requested base.

After many new side-quests in the dyepots, I returned to my favorite way to design a colorway, which is to create distinct spots of a second color within each colorway. As for the hues, I focused on colors that reminded me of DEGEN: oozy reds and childlike yellows sandwiched by sluggy green and browns.
